Concrete blocks are mainly classified into two types:
Standard Blocks
Standard blocks are commonly used for the construction of small and medium-sized buildings, such as garages, sheds, carports, and warehouses, where thermal insulation is not important. These blocks are also known as wall blocks, patio blocks, and garden blocks. They are the most common type of blocks and are the most commonly used for the construction of residential homes, such as bedrooms and living rooms
Insulated Concrete Units
For the construction of homes in hot areas, the insulated blocks or concrete insulated blocks are used, which are more resistant to high temperatures, moisture and humidity. These types of blocks are normally made with a polystyrene insulation that helps to minimize problems caused by high temperatures or moisture in the concrete.
